Just a short drive from the cabins, you’ll find awesome places to hike, ride horses, and see wildlife. While a vacation to Rock Creek usually involves fishing,  there is lots to do for non-fishing companions.

Horseback Riding

Spend the day horseback riding in the Rock Creek valley with JM Bar Outfitters. Saddle up and ride through the valley and along the river. Bring a camera along on this scenic adventure. Choose from a two-hour ride on the ranch or a full or half day trip into the mountains.

National Bison Range

National Bison Range Just 37 miles north of Missoula, Montana, you'll find the National Bison Range. The preserve lies on 18,500 acres of rolling foothills at the base of the Mission Mountains. Trail 10

Trail 10 Also known as Babcock Mountain Trail 10, the trailhead can be a little deceiving. You'll see the sign for the hiking trail just south of the turn for the Valley of the Moon area near the 2-mile marker on Rock Creek Road. Pull into the turn-out of the river side and park. Garnet Ghost Town

This well-preserved ghost town lies high in the Garnet Mountains, about an hour from the cabins. Garnet was named for the semi-precious ruby-colored stone found in the area and it was a good place to live. The surrounding mountains were rich in gold-bearing quartz. There was a school, the crime rate was low, and liquor flowed freely in the town’s many saloons.

A Carousel For Missoula

A Carousel for Missoula is a volunteer-built, hand-carved carousel in Missoula, Montana, located on the Clark Fork River in Missoula’s downtown Caras Park within walking distance of the historic Wilma Theatre, Jeannette Rankin Peace Center and Osprey baseball stadium. The carousel is accompanied by a volunteer-built park, Dragon Hollow. This is a great spot to bring the family year round.

Downhill Skiing

There are two awesome ski areas close to the cabins. Discovery Ski Area is located in Philipsburg and is a family friendly mountain. In summer, Discovery has a Bike Park on the mountain.

On the outskirts of Missoula lies the Snow Bowl. Spend the day skiing and then return to the cabin and relax by the fireplace.
