Things To Do
Fun things to do while vacationing on Rock Creek.
Just a short drive from the cabins, you’ll find awesome places to hike, ride horses, and see wildlife. While a vacation to Rock Creek usually involves fishing, there is lots to do for non-fishing companions.
We love to hike and find cool things to do. If you are looking for something we do not have listed, send us an email of give us a call. We love to help visitors explore Montana.
Horseback Riding
Spend the day horseback riding in the Rock Creek valley with JM Bar Outfitters. Saddle up and ride through the valley and along the river. Bring a camera along on this scenic adventure. Choose from a two-hour ride on the ranch or a full or half day trip into the mountains.
The horse corrals are only 4 miles from the cabins. Contact Cowboy Jeff to schedule a trail ride at 406-544-5249.
Garnet Ghost Town
This well-preserved ghost town lies high in the Garnet Mountains, about an hour from the cabins. Garnet was named for the semi-precious ruby-colored stone found in the area and it was a good place to live. The surrounding mountains were rich in gold-bearing quartz. There was a school, the crime rate was low, and liquor flowed freely in the town’s many saloons.
Learn about the history of this mining community and take in some beautiful Montana scenery on the drive. Garnet Ghost Town was named ‘One Of The Coolest Ghost Towns’ by Travel and Leisure
A Carousel For Missoula
A Carousel for Missoula is a volunteer-built, hand-carved carousel in Missoula, Montana, located on the Clark Fork River in Missoula’s downtown Caras Park within walking distance of the historic Wilma Theatre, Jeannette Rankin Peace Center and Osprey baseball stadium. The carousel is accompanied by a volunteer-built park, Dragon Hollow. This is a great spot to bring the family year round.
Downhill Skiing
There are two awesome ski areas close to the cabins. Discovery Ski Area is located in Philipsburg and is a family friendly mountain. In summer, Discovery has a Bike Park on the mountain.
On the outskirts of Missoula lies the Snow Bowl. Spend the day skiing and then return to the cabin and relax by the fireplace.
