Yes. The cabin is pet friendly. We ask that you do not allow pets on furniture or beds. Please clean up after your pet on the mowed lawn; poop in the tall grass is ok. Also, be aware of skunks in the summer and fall months and never let a skunked pet come into the cabin. While it is unlikely your pet will be sprayed, here is a great tip for skunked pets.
If your pet is sprayed by a skunk, here are steps to take:
- DO NOT let the pet in the cabin. Tie the pet up outside while you prepare a solution. Do not spray your pet with water.
- Prepare the solution: 1 qt hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 1 tsp dishwashing liquid (Dawn)
The hydrogen peroxide is in the bathroom medicine cabinet. The baking soda is in the cupboard to the right of the kitchen window, and the dishwashing liquid is beside the side on the counter. Mix well, this works great. - Work into the pet’s fur where sprayed. Use solution liberally in places where the pet was sprayed. Dry the pet with rags found in the drawer with dish towels. Let solution dry – do not rinse. Rinse rags in solution. Wash rags separate from anything other clothing the first time; the second time should be fine. If the pet still smells, repeat. If you cannot get the smell out, the pet sleeps outside, not in the cabin.
The solution works great – we have used it on our pets, and it gets them stink-free the first time around if steps are followed.
